There are similarities between Prada’s brand and women artists of the Avant-garde era. During this time period, artist Helen Frankenthaler created experimental soak-stain paintings. Frankenthaler painted with bold color, in a combination of structured and fluid shapes. These shapes bring out the mood of Prada footwear, communicating the brand’s elegant and edgy personality. I curated her paintings to reflect the structure and message of Prada’s designs. The project is comprised of two newspaper ads and one magazine ad.
